A Few Good Men (1992)

dir. Rob Reiner

U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay - Crystal Cove State Park, 8471 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California.

Judge Advocate General's Corps – St. Elizabeth's Hospital's western campus, Redwood Street SE, Washington, DC. It was a federally run psychiatric hospital which later fell into disrepair although the east campus is still operational. The western campus now houses the headquarters of the Department of Homeland Security.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Danny Kaffee (Tom Cruise) plays baseball – 17th St SW and Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC. The ball field is no longer there. Many thanks to Tahoekid for the correction.

Danny and Sam Weinberg (Kevin Pollak) go to see Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore) – U.S. Department of Commerce (west side), 1401 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC

U.S. naval base barracks Windward – Fort McArthur, Meyler Road, San Pedro, California

The Marine Corps War Memorial aka the Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington, Virginia

Danny buys magazines and chats with the seller – Idle Time Books, 2410 18th Street NW, Washington, DC. The store has since then moved to 2467 18th Street NW but the alley where the newsstand was located in the film is still recognizable.

Sam's apartment building - 2415 20th Street NW, Washington, DC

U.S. Naval Base airfield - Naval Air Station Point Mugu, Oxnard, California

Colonel Jessep's (Jack Nicholson) house – Still searching for that location. Some sources claim it's Reservation Point in San Pedro but I can't confirm.

Danny's apartment – 3017 Dent Place NW, Washington, DC

Tidal Basin path and the Jefferson Memorial, Washington, DC

Danny pondering his moral dilemma – the Watergate Steps and the Arlington Memorial Bridge, Washington, DC

Lieutenant Colonel Markinson’s (J.T. Walsh)'s hideout – Downtown Motel (now Motel 6), 1345 4th Street NE, Washington, DC

  3. The only correction for this is the baseball field. I also thought this was at the Potomac Park ball fields, but I was literally there yesterday and it didn't match. I figured it out, in several shots you can see the John Paul Jones Statue behind Demi Moore, which places this near the intersection of 17th St SW and Independence Ave SW. Unfortunately there's now a parking lot and snack bar where the baseball diamond was, but if you look on Google Maps it matches up, even with the Jefferson Memorial in the distance, and the Kutz Bridge in the foreground.

  4. You have crushed me. I was stationed at GTMO and didn't even know the film was supposed to take place there when I first went to see it. When I saw the the scenes of sunrise along the fence line, I immediately thought "That's GTMO" although they hadn't said it yet. And the hangar looks like the GTMO airfield, too. Nothing else looked like it, but I was always sure they had filmed those sequences there.

    1. I completely agree with you! My dad was stationed there twice so i lived on GTMO when I was a kid. I always tell people there was a scene that must have been filmed in my backyard.
The filmmakers did a pretty convincing job & I still have a hard time believing this wasn't actually Cuba.

  6. What about the seafood place she takes Danny to? I'm pretty sure it's a place in Arlington or Alexandria.

    1. It is a place in Wilmington, Ca. and is now a railyard. It was called The Port Cafe.

  8. The JAG buildings are filmed on St. Elizabeths West Campus, not the East Campus on Alabama Avenue.

  9. IMDB states Newport Beach was a filming location. I grew up there but do not immediately recognize any Newport scenes. My guess is one of the coastal bluff scenes. Great job on the others here!

  10. What is the the location of the bar scene where Tom Cruise tells Jevin Bavon “you’re a lousy $&’*# softball player”?

  11. When I was stationed at the now defunct MCAS Am Toro, I went to Crystal Cove beach twice. It's changed since 1986!

  12. Redstatelady, I was the Marine who drove Bob Reiner on His tour of the leeward fence line. Not only did I get woken up out of my sleep time but he was a stuck up ass, did say one single word to me the whole time! I have guard duty that week. There in fall of 90 to 91.
