  1. Amazing Sharing! I really appreciated your work. Your blog is very informative and nice images are shared. Many tourists easily find these places after reading your blog. I am planning to visit Italy and London after completing my washington dc bus tours with my lovely wife and son. Your shared images are helpful for me to search attractive and historic places. Keep it up, you shared awesome information.

  2. Great work, Yuri. I can tell you many more Venice locations. The scene where Kate and Merton are 'making out' is by the side of the Grand Canal, at the end of Calle del Traghetto (off Campo San Felice), Cannaregio. Can you tell me the name of the church where Merton and Milly climb the scaffolding? You have some errors: two boats nearly collide by Riva de l'Ogio, by the side of the Pescaria, on Rio de le Beccarie, San Polo (not Fondamenta Vin, Castello. It is Parrocchia San Cassan, but that's not an address, the sign you must have seen just tells you you are entering the parish of San Cassan (San Cassiano)); Milly walking Merton home is Campiello Novo o dei Morti; the fountain was definitely a prop, as there is no fountain in Campiello Querini Stampalia; it's Widmann, not Wildmann; Susan tells Merton that Milly has died in Campo dei Frari (Fondamenta dei Frari is on the other side of the canal). There is a brief scene at the entrance to the Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista that you could add where Milly is alone. There is a crowd procession by Fondamenta Ca' Bala (seconds after they are all on the other side of the Grand Canal).

I haven't been able to find the church.

  4. Could you take a couple of screenshots of the church and post them here, and perhaps on Tripadvisor Venice forum, and ask readers?
My idea was that you could correct your captions and then delete my comments as they would no longer be relevant.

  5. Can you contact anybody involved in the film? Especially the location manager, Chris Wheeldon? I really really want to know the name of the church, if it wasn't a set.

    1. Bert, I don't have any contacts in the film industry. I looked at many churches in and around Venice but I couldn't find any with that kind of tiled floor pattern.

  6. There were a couple of typos in my previous submission. When you have made the necessary corrections I would be happy for you to delete all my comments, or at least those parts that refer to the errors.
“Two boats nearly collide under a narrow bridge – Fondamenta Riva Olio at Calle de le Beccarie O Panataria, Venice, Italy.“ Not quite right, Yuri. It's Riva de l'Ogio on the nizioleto. That's Venetian. In Italian it would be Riva dell'Olio. It is a fondamenta, but that's not what it says on the nizioleto. The gondolas are floating on the Rio de le Becarie [in Venetian, Rio delle Beccarie in Italian. Since we are in Venice, I would use Venetian.] Calle de le Becarie o Panataria is nearby, but not relevant. The narrow bridge is called Ponte de la Pescaria [Ponte della Pescheria in Italian]. You really don't need to say “Venice, Italy”, just as you don't need to say “London, England” or “Paris, France”. If it's not Venice (Italy), THEN you need to say “Venice, California”.
“Kate and Merton walking in Piazza San Marco by the Palazzo Ducale, Venice, Italy.“ That's not quite right. They are in the Piazzetta, sometimes referred to as the Piazzetta di San Marco.
“Milly walking Merton home – Campiello O Novo dei Morti, Venice, Italy.” – This still needs changing. It is Campiello Novo o dei Morti. ['o' means 'or' in Italian and Venetian, so it should not be capitalised.] 'Morti ' means 'dead (people)'. There is a cemetery under their feet.

    1. Thank you, Bert. Do you live in Venice? You seem to know every nook and cranny there.

  7. No, I don't live there, but I've been over 10 times, usually for two weeks at a time. And I'm a bit OCD about it.(!)
