The Bourne Identity (1988)

Some Paris sequences were actually filmed in Nice or even London. Except the establishing shots, the New York sequences were also filmed in London.

Bourne (Richard Chamberlain) is washed ashore - Plage de la Petite Fontaine, Théoule-sur-Mer, France. The camera is looking towards Pointe de l'Aguille.

"Carillon du Lac" Hotel in Zurich – St. Ermin’s Hotel, 2 Caxton Street, London SW1. Appropriately enough, this stately hotel was headquarters to covert operations during World War II.

"Gemeinschaft Bank" – Römerhof, Römerhofplatz, Zurich, Switzerland. This is not a bank, and the building hosts the lower terminus of the Dolderbahn rack railway.

Bourne and Marie St. Jacques (Jaclyn Smith) searching for "Drei Alpenhäuser" restaurant – St. Peterhofstatt, Zurich, Switzerland

"Drei Alpenhäuser" restaurant – Weinstube Zur grossen Reblaube, Glockengasse 7, Zurich, Switzerland. This is a real restaurant (though with a different name) whose claim to fame is that one of its rooms was Goethe's bed chamber in 1779.

Bourne and Marie come to Chernak’s apartment – Neumarkt 16, Zurich, Switzerland

Marie running away from Bourne and unwittingly accepts a lift from the assassins – Lindenhofstrasse at Oetenbachgasse, Zurich, Switzerland.

Bourne running down the stairs – Amtshaus IV, Lindenhofstrasse 19, Zurich, Switzerland. He exits onto Uraniastrasse, next to the Urania Observatory. The building was also seen in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The boarding house with a red door - Hellmutstrasse 15, Zurich, Switzerland. In the 1980s, it was a rundown industrial district. Apparently, they painted the door red to correspond to the description in the book. Since then the district has been prettified and is considered trendy now. Many thanks to Lois for finding this location.

The assassins’ car crashes into a tram – Rennweg, Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland.

Bourne dumps the bodies – Münsterhof, Zurich, Switzerland.

Bourne looking for Marie – Münsterbrücke, Zurich, Switzerland. To the left of the bridge is the Fraumünster church, and to the right is Zunfthaus zur Meisen which houses the porcelain and faience collection of the Swiss National Museum.

Bourne sees Marie and one of the assassins – Parkdeck an der Gessnerallee, Gessnerallee at Schweizergasse, Zurich, Switzerland. The parking bridge has since been removed.

Marie goes to the ‘Bank Valois de Paris’ – Hotel Raphael, 17 Avenue Kléber, Paris, France.

Bourne accosts D'Armacourt (Philip Madoc) – 48 Boulevard Victor Hugo, Nice, France.

Marie running from henchmen – Rue du Pont Vieux, to the south of Rue de la Boucherie, Nice, France.

Despite a couple of establishing shots of New York City...

The Treadstone building is actually at 43 Charles Street, London W1, UK.

Bourne comes to the Bergeron boutique – 137 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris, France.

Marie visits the Canadian embassy in "Paris" – 5 Hamilton Place, London W1, UK.

Bourne dines with Madame Jacqui (Jacqueline Pearce) – the Seine near the Pont d'Iéna, Paris, France.

Bourne and Marie see her picture in a newspaper – Rue Sainte-Reparate, Nice, France.

Abbott comes to 'Treadstone' – Charles Street, London W1, UK.

General Villiers’ (Anthony Quayle) house – 7 Avenue Velasquez, Paris, France. The building is actually home to the Musée Cernuschi specializing in Asian art.

The general's party at "L'Arbalète" – The Belvedere, Holland Park, Abbotsbury Road, London W8, UK. It's a restaurant located in the adjoining former Summer Ballroom of Holland House.

The cemetery – Cimetière du Château, Allée François Aragon, Nice, France. Some of Nice's most famous people are buried there, including film director Louis Feuillade, writer Gaston Leroux, actress Renée Saint-Cyr and Russian writer Alexander Herzen.
