  5. The villa in the posh party scene is Villa Quintili. It's on Appia Antica, directly across the ruins where Monica, Sally and John went. I went there for a wedding reception a few months & i didn't watch this movie until i got home. my mind = blown

  11. Dear Yuri,

Thank you so much for this fabulous blog!

I want to ask you about another few scenes:

    1. Jerry and Phyllis's hotel-room terrace
    2. Leoppoldo talking to his driver
    3. Leopoldo runnig away from photographers and running into the church procession

Do you know where they were filmed?

    1. I'll need to research it. There were so many locations used in the film so I only concentrated on what I thought was essential.

  12. A follow-up: I believe that Jerry and Phyllis's terrace is InterContinental de la Ville, probably their seasonal Terrazza Roma.

Leopoldo is probably talking to his driver in Parco del Colle Oppio near the Fontana della Maschera (there are two, I think).

You've almost covered Leopoldo running away from the photographers and running into the church procession.

However, I wanted to point out that I believe that the first photo above under Villa dei Quintili, with the car near an acqueduct, is not Villa dei Quintili but Viale Appio Claudio at the Parco degli Acquedotti.

Also, do you know where is the terrace Jack and Sally are looking over the ruins towards the Colosseum? Is it Via del Campidoglio at Via Monte Tarpeo?

    1. Thanks for the correction on the Parco degli Acquedotti.
I think you're right about InterContinental de la Ville and Parco del Colle Oppio. Via Monte Tarpeo seems likely but it's hard to say for sure without going there and checking the view.

    2. Thank you for this beautiful website! You are welcome!

I have to say that I'm almost completely sure about Parco del Colle Oppio and Via Monte Tarpeo, but I'm beginning to doubt InterContinental de la Ville. Sometimes it seems like some kind of penthouse over there, perhaps an apartment the company rented during filming. I'm not sure if InterContinental de la Ville only has a restaurant terrace or also a suite terrace, which then might be from where the scene is filmed.

    3. I think, you're right about InterContinental.

  13. Is it Via del Campidoglio at Via Monte Tarpeo?

They must be higher, at the level of Chiesa dei Santi Luca e Martina's dome, maybe it's the roof of Palazzo dei Senatori?

    1. If you use Google Street View and check the scene in the film, to me it seems that the fence they are leaning onto is the same one seen in Via Monte Tarpeo. Furthermore, the scene seems to show the remains of the Temple of the Dioscuri in roughly the same position as it would be seen from there.

Your file shows a view from the ruins in Via di S. Teodoro towards the Vittoriano.

    2. Jack and Sally are higher, I'll show what I mean.

Google, Via del Campidoglio at Via Monte Tarpeo: http://www.ljplus.ru/img4/n/o/nomen_n/Monte_Tarpeo.jpg
      The film: http://www.ljplus.ru/img4/n/o/nomen_n/film1.jpg
I marked the level of Chiesa dei Santi Luca e Martina's dome and Curia Iulia.

Google, Via del Campidoglio at Via Monte Tarpeo toward the Temple of the Dioscuri:

The film, the position of the camera is higher again: http://www.ljplus.ru/img4/n/o/nomen_n/fiilm2.jpg

The old link - I wanted to show this scene from other side to compare the heights of the ruins and buildings.

    3. What is the arrow pointing towards?

Perhaps the metal fence they are leaning onto is the fence above the door at 42 Via Monte Tarpeo.

      Delete
    4. The arrow is between Chiesa dei Santi Luca e Martina's dome and Curia Iulia.

But what is it in the red circle? I seems to me like a fragment of the roof:

    1. You are watching in the wrong direction. The camera s directed northeast, towards Tempio di Saturno and Chiesa dei Santi Luca e Martina, whereas you should be looking southeast, towards Tempio dei Dioscuri and the Colosseum.

    2. My photo has no connection with To Rome with Love, I just wanted to show the height of a hand camera from this street.

    3. I see. After checking the scene again, I think you are right. I wonder if one can climb onto that terrace as a visitor of the museum or if it was something specially permitted to the cast and crew of the film.

    4. Lois, I think you’re right: they seem to be on top of the Palazzo dei Senatori.

  15. Lois, have you been able to photograph the spot where Leopoldo is talking to his driver?

Have you been able to establish where is the scene where Milly gets lost in a crowded street full of passers-by where she is talking to a man who is giving her directions?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I didn't try to do it, I didn't cover the locations of this film, I took a few photos only.

Have you been able to establish where is the scene where Milly...

I found it for you, it's via dei Greci at via del Corso.

  18. Hopefully, Yuri won't mind. I was just wondering where is that scene with Hayley and Michelangelo around 3:28. They are kissing on a pathway between the topiary and there is either a fountain or a sprinkler jet visible in the frame. It is either Villa d'Este again or Villa Farnese di Caprarola. Or maybe something else entirely.

Then immediately after that scene there is a scene where Hayley is talking on her mobile phone while walking down some steps and turns left in a narrow street.

If anyone can pin this down, it is Lois.

    1. I found where they shot the scene of Hayley walking down the steps and then turning into a narrow street. Is was shot at the intersection of Via degli Ibernesi and Via Baccina.

  19. There are two other scenes that Lois might pin down. One is the scene where Jack is buying the newspapers while talking to Sally and the scene where Jack, Sally, Monica, and John are returning from the airport. Since there is a visible traffic sign saying Ostia in the shot, it must be one of the roads leading to Fiumicino or Ostia. Or maybe Via Cristoforo Colombo.

  20. Yuri,

the scene you say was shot at the Baths of Caracalla was probably shot at the Villa of the Quintilii, too.

    Check this out:

    2. No problem. Just remove the 'baths' thing, too.

By the way, I believe that the scene where Milly and Luca Salta are at the restaurant at the same time as Antonio and Anna was filmed at Ristorante Alfredo alla Scrofa in Via della Scrofa. Perhaps you can add that, too, now, together with the Villa d'Este, via dei Greci at via del Corso scene, and all the others we talked about. If that's not too much to ask. When you find the time.

  21. Great comments. I found another. A small scene where Milly is lost, crosses a road near a tram (just before Penelope Crz enters the film. She's on Largo Arenula, near where it meets Via Florida.
