The Conformist (1970)

Marcello Clerici's (Jean-Louis Trintignant) hotel – Gare d'Orsay, 1 Rue de la Légion d'Honneur, Paris, France. It’s a former railway station and hotel, built in 1900. The station ceased to operate long time ago, and the hotel closed in 1973. The building reopened as the Musée d'Orsay in 1986. It houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings in the world.

Marcello on his way to visit his fiancée Giulia (Stefania Sandrelli) – Res Gestae Divi Augusti aka The Achievements of the Deified Augustus, Museum Ara Pacis Augustae, Lungotevere dei Mellini 35, Rome, Italy. The text is the funerary inscription of the Roman emperor, Augustus, giving a record of his life and accomplishments. The original, which has not survived, was engraved upon a pair of bronze pillars in front of Augustus' mausoleum. A protective building for the Altar was built during the Mussolini era in 1938 as part of the dictator’s efforts to glorify the Roman imperial past. A new cover building, designed by American architect Richard Meier, was erected on the site in 2006.

Marcello meets Lino again – Teatro di Marcello aka Theatre of Marcellus, Via del Teatro di Marcello, Rome, Italy. It’s an ancient open-air theatre built in 13 BC. Now the upper portion of the theater is divided into multiple apartments, and its surroundings are used as a venue for summer concerts.
