The closed Cinémathèque Française – Palais de Chaillot near Avenue Albert de Mun, Paris, France. In 1960s the Cinémathèque Française was located in the basement of the right wing of the Palais de Chaillot. In February of 1968 the Cinémathèque founder and Truffaut's idol Henri Langlois was fired by Culture Minister André Malraux – a move that caused local and international uproar (Bernardo Bertolucci depicted those protests in the beginning of The Dreamers.) Truffaut, Godard and many other filmmakers came to Langlois' defense and he was reinstated. In 1974, he received an honorary Academy Award for his lifetime work in film preservation and died three years later. The Cinémathèque has since then moved to 51 Rue de Bercy in the 12th arrondissement of Paris.

Just discovering the pleasure of finding the location seen in a film. Really enjoyed Antoine Doinel's Paris.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteReally enjoyed this! Have you or anyone else ever rediscovered the locations from 'La Peau Douce'? I was at a Raoul Coutard lecture and he said that the Lachenay apartment was Truffaut's real home but have never found the address. It took me years to, finally, find the Val d'Isere restaurant where the film's Fin occurs!
ReplyDeleteI haven't researched 'La Peau Douce', and I'm not sure if anyone else has.
DeleteMERCI MILLE FOIS!
ReplyDeleteAdress Avenue Le Breteuil with the bench of Christine and Antoine - is this the same location - an avenue lined with tall trees - like the dispute between Claude Jade and Jean-Pierre Léaud ("I didn'zt admire you") ?
ReplyDeleteYes, the way I recall it. The dome of the Invalides is in the background.
DeleteChristine's house in Neuilly was since demolished, but do you know the address (street and number) in Neuilly?
ReplyDeleteSorry, no. And the address given in the film was probably fake.
DeleteThe house of Christine's parents in "Baisers volés" and "Domicile conjugal" was in Pontin

It turns out it was in Pantin. Please see above.
DeleteAntoine visits the prostitutes in Passage Lathuille (75018 Paris)
ReplyDeleteWhat part of the passage? The buildings don't look like in the film.
